Skelia takes leadership on testing mobile applications

Skelia launches TestLab4apps (www.testlab4apps.com), a highly specialized service on testing mobile applications by further capitalizing on its extensive testing know-how and mobile experience.  Skelia is an international ICT & BPO services company operating out of state-of-the-art service & development centers located in Ukraine.

Testing mobile apps,  a growing nightmare…

Mobile applications are increasingly business critical for B2C companies like banks, news publishers and e-shops while end users don’t have a lot of patience with such apps. If something bothers them, they simply delete the app and move on.

“Within the last 6 to 12 months many of our customers and business contacts started to experience a growing nightmare of testing mobile applications. The diversity of mobile devices, software platforms and releases, application features and networks to be considered for testing has grown exponentially” says Patrik Vandewalle, Skelia’s CEO.  “By proactively investing in a dedicated Skelia Lab, with experienced staff, tools, methods and continuous service innovation, Skelia’s ambition is to maintain international leadership in this specialized field of testing mobile applications.”

Mobile Testing Lab

“Our Testing Lab is permanently equipped with specific emulators, simulators and a rich set of mid & high-end real devices (Android, iOS, Windows). The mixture of mobile phones and tablets evolves with market trends and most common usage of smart devices” explains Olivier Istace, COO Skelia.

There is still a fundamental misperception that successful testing of app functionality on one device provides assurance across all others of the same operating system. However, testing on all possible combinations is impractical and expensive. One needs to consider a testing strategy as a trade-off between cost, quality and time-to-market.

Emerging market for test automation

“Mobile application testing requires special tools, adapted test methods applied within a well structured combination of manual testing and automated testing. The cross-platform mobile test-automation market is still in its infancy with new tool players emerging every month. Our research team follows and benchmarks new tools”
